Talking Shop with Richard Warren, owner of A Swedish Affair in Fort Myers. Richard and his wife Yvonne opened A Swedish Affair 23 years ago. The store carries all things Scandinavian, including T-shirts, folk dolls, handcrafted items, porcelain and jewelr

Fort Myers, Florida has a large Finnish and Swedish-Finn (-American) population , as does Lake Worth, FL. It’s good that they are able to buy hardtack and lingonberries somewhere! People need to remember their roots and carry traditions forward. Shops like this help Americans to do so.
I’m heartened to read about the Warrens’ store, Igor.

Sorry Jeanne, I was in the business trip and just now noticed your comment in the moderation queue… I am writing from the train on the way home. Thanks for your input, and the article for Scandinavians in America is under the development now. I eager to free some time from my schedule for that.

Dear Igor,
Please, let me send you a copy of the Finnish-American Reporter. Tell me where to send the newspaper (their on-line presence is limited). It will help you write your article. Jim Kurtti, the editor of the Finnish American reporter, has just been named as the Upper Peninsula of Michigan Finnish Consul, because that is where the highest concentration of Finnish Americans live.
