EMI Night!! Friday, 17th March KokoTeatteri 21:00

we finally organized an experimental musical instruments night, where performers will perform with their self made analog and/or digital musical instruments.

EMI Night will be on this Friday, 17th March starting at 21:00 KokoTeatteri (unioninkatu 45) free entry!!!

perfomers of the event are;

Juha Valkeapää /vocal with analog and self-made instruments

Juha Valkeapää is a vocal artist whose work moves in between theatre, music, performance art and dance. He has performed and presented his works in Europe, Egypt and Canada. He graduated from Helsinki University in 1995, after studying theatre science & Hungarian language. More info to be found at www.nbl.fi/juha.valkeapaa

Pilvari Pirtola /electronics

Born in 1978 in Helsinki. Started to play with sounds using FastTracker2 in mid-90’s. Joined Grey Park in 98 and been a member ever since, this started the journey towards more experienting sounds using all possible kinds of electronics in the way. Now studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki and a member of way too many musical projects.

EMI Project /electronic interfaces with digital instruments David Cuartielles, Koray Tahiroglu, Enrique Tomas

The EMI Project aims to experiment with the interaction behind new musical artifacts for performers without a traditional musical education. The characteristics of the these experimental instruments such as easy to use, easy to control give more possibilities to explore and experiment with different sound structures.

Kalev Tiits /mechanical calculator, electrical motors and kitchenware, various audio electronics + computer

Kalev Tiits is a musicologist, teacher of music technology, composer and sound designer, working at the moment at Centre for Music & Technology, Sibelius Academy, Helsinki. He is working with both making tape music and devising electronic and electro-mechanical constructs for live electronic performances.
