Vasa Museum in Stockholm: 50 th anniversary of ship's discovery

Stockholmâ™s Vasa Museum celebrated the 50th anniversary of the shipâ™s discovery on the last Thursday, August 24, 2006.
The royal warship Vasa is a major tourist attraction of Stockholm, it sunk in 1628, 378 years ago and was found in 1956 by Anders Franzén. The ship was lifted from a depth of 32 meters and moved to shallower water, where it fas finally lifted on April 24, 1961, after which it was put in a dry dock.
The museum had its 250 millionth visitor last week.
