Andrew MacMillan is giving a lecture on the Scottish Architect Charles Rennie Macintosh at the Ateneum-sali Kaivokatu 2, Helsinki on 26.04.2006. Anyone who is interested in Finnish Jugendstil and Finnish art at the turn of the century should definitely think about attending. Macintosh was a great illustrator and interior designer as well as an Architect and being contemporary with people like Eliel Saarinen and the jugendstil style of Helsinki old town will make for a fascinating comparison. The lecture is only part of the art on silver screen series being held at the ateneum. Its a really interesting series so I have enclosed the programme of the press release below. We have wrote about talented photographer Uzi Varon in our blog. His Double Exposure project was shown in Helsinki last January and is booked to Tampere for next fall and then to Helsinki again on March 2007.

Thanks to Uzi, he published today the project on his website, and we now able to enjoy it online.

The project contain 27 images made from two photographs taken in Israel and Finland. Compared together these pictures giving amazing and sometimes really moving effect. The music by Jason Carter adding dramatic effect to the show. Worth to take some time for looking.

coComment - clear conversation in the blogosphere

It was always hard to me to track comments I made on various blogs, rss reader helps of course, but not always, some blogs has no comments rss at all, and collecting all feeds on every blog you have commented can be a headache.

But now it seems that we got a tool to keep our discussions in order. CoComment is the service for tracking your comments, you just need to use their bookmarklet before the hitting the ‘Submit’ button on blog page you commenting to. I have set an account there and tried their system recently, it’s worked, but I forgot to hit their bookmarklet couple of times.

CopyFraud: Ministry of culture funds propaganda

Herkko Hietanen from CopyFraud wrote article about comic book issued by Ministry of culture of Finland:

First the ministry of culture drafts an awful copyright law that even their specialists can’t interpret. Then they outsourced the PR and education to the hands of Finnish anti-piracy people. These people have produced a comic full of accusation and moral ethos with little facts. The script of the book was written by one of the most active copyright lobbyist in Finland. The comic book along with some slides is being distributed to school teachers to use to educate teens.
