Jopo Uploaded on June 19, 2006 by jyri.k

I believe most of the Finns recognize this design. “Jokaisen polkupyörä” means “everyone's bicycle”. So here you have it: Jopo!

This individual belongs to my mother. I believe it was made in the 70s (but the design is way back from the 60s). I take it out and drive it around in summer when I'm visiting my parents.

Currently a new version of Jopo is being manufactured, but it looks a little different.

I receiving daily many messages with tips about various design events and new sites. Today I got the link to one site that intrigued me because it's related to T-shirts design, and I have experience in designing of T-shirts and love it.

Oddica is online service selling printed T-shirts via Internet, and designs created by notable Artists might be familiar to you: Hydro74, Alan Forbes, Audrey Kawasaki, The Pizz, Los Fokos, Jordan Crane, Kenneth Lavallee.

But what is making difference from many similar companies that they claim not to use Work-for-Hire, no Spec Work, and no Public Voting. Neverless to say that I've wanted to check their site after such perks announced.

To be shortly they offer for artists:

They are Licensing designer'sr Artwork, for specific uses only, and they are working on a Commission Model.

Artists will share in 41 percent of Oddica's Net Profit annually and receive Royalties.

Artists will receive $500 for each commissioned Design.

There are much more attractive things for Artists on their Oddica Artist Program page

I was pleased to see their professionally designed site that giving me positive first impression from their services, and maybe I going to try it.

Finland's SECCO Recycles Trash into Treasure

SECCO, a small environmentally-conscious design company in Finland, is taking discarded waste materials, like used car tire tubes and washing machine tubs, and turning them into unique and fashionable bags, briefcases, purses, and bowls. SECCO has chosen FinnStyle.com, one of the largest importers of designs from Finland, to introduce their products to the U.S. consumer via their online showroom, FinnStyle.com.

The young designers at Finlandâ™s SECCO are giving a new purpose to waste and left-over materials by transforming them into funky high quality design productsâ”from designer bags made of tire inner tubes to sleek bowls made from stainless steel washing machine tubs.

SECCOâ™s bagsâ”hand bags, shoulder bags, cosmetic bags and briefcasesâ”created from the soft insides of used car tire inner tubes, are as elegant and fashionable as todayâ™s hottest leather creations. Seams and patches are commonplace and expected, and give individuality to each bag. From discarded washing machine drums SECCO gives us the awesome Aste (âœDegreeâ) Bowls. Material once formed entirely by its function can now be appreciated for its raw beauty and Zen-like regimented pattern.

SECCO products have created an inspiring wave of interest in Scandinavia and demand for SECCOâ™s recycled treasures has been so strong in Japan that theyâ™ve already opened a showroom there. SECCO has chosen FinnStyle.com, one of the largest importers of designs from Finland, to introduce their products to the U.S. consumer via their online showroom.

“This is a timely and irresistible product,” says FinnStyle.com CEO Ben Horn. âœAesthetically pleasing products are desirable. Buying green products is noble. Combining the twoâ”as SECCO has doneâ”is simply irresistible.”

Mainwhile, you can visit their temporary site to get an idea about what they offer for their customers: deltalabstudios.com

Here what they wrote on their site about Delta Lab Studios:

The Delta Lab is the premiere recording studio for artists who seek creative, inspiring and comfortable environs for their recording and production needs. Located in downtown Copenhagen, Denmark, the Delta Lab was opened in 2001 by Thomas Troelsen, the 23-year old lead singer of the band Superheroes. Though recent in its inception, the studio boasts a vast collection of retro and vintage equipment that rivals the register of most collectors and nearly every vintage studio in the world. Its 1972 recording console, for example, was bought directly from the BBC in the UK, and has been used by ITV and many legendary sound pioneers for over 3 decades. The studio also offers modern recording facilities and equipment, and is well suited to fulfill all the needs of its artistic clients including recording, production, and songwriting, among others.

The Delta Lab provides a cozy, authentic atmosphere with a professional and experienced in-house team that will ensure an enjoyable and productive experience.

Retro, modern, or futuristic, the musical and stylistic possibilities which the studio offers are infinite!
