Phil from the Finland for Thought reacted in his blog about the new bill presented before the Finnish parliament on last Wednesday. The bill envisages a ban on the sale of incandescent light bulbs. Phil writes:
Welfare Statists are always so quick ban things they don’t like. It’s a simple-minded solution to a complex issue that takes away our smallest freedoms without really educating the public about something as serious as the environment.
I heard recently that some of the alternative - energy-saving fluorescents may cause mercury disposal hazards, so be careful when buying your new bulbs!

Stan from Home Rejuvenation Blog informed me today that they are conducting a survey to find out who the 10 influential bloggers (blogs) in our design community are. The purpose is to find out the best in design blogging.

Let’s face it - there are too many design bloggers out there, each with their own distinctive style and voice. But we never know who, in most bloggers’ and readers’ hearts, the movers and shakers of the design blogging world are. Simply because nobody has ever bothered about finding out?

Electrolux Design Lab is one of well known and most influential competitions in design society. The annual competition is held already fifth time and now they annonces the 8 finalists for Design Lab 2007.
Hundreds of design students from around the world entered this year’s competition and were present their ideas for eco-friendly and sustainable household appliances and solutions for 2020. The final eight contestants have been invited to attend the final judging event and award ceremony, which will take place on November 28, 2007 in Paris. The winner of Electrolux Design Lab 2007 recieves a First Prize of 5,000 Euro and a six-month internship at one of global design centers of Electrolux.
