The new 9-4X bringing Saab design and engineering values to the growing crossover segment. Traditionally aircraft-inspired look and ride characteristics making this car an upcoming star among Saab car lovers.

Making its world premiere at next month’s Los Angles Auto Show, the 9-4X expands Saab’s product portfolio to three car lines and will provide a fresh, alternative choice for independently-minded crossover buyers. It is an important next-step in the Swedish brand’s renaissance as an independent premium car manufacturer.

Volvo cars proudly introduces three vehicles from the 2011 Volvo line-up: the 2011 Volvo C70, 2011 Volvo V70, and 2011 Volvo S80.

The pulse-quickening 2011 Volvo C70 convertible sports an updated design and provides a more luxurious driving experience. The C70’s refreshed look has exterior styling reminiscent of the S60 revealed earlier this year. Gauges and instruments unique to the C70 also receive a new look for 2011.

The C70 transforms from coupe to convertible in about 30 seconds as its three-piece steel roof folds away silently at the press of a button. Pure exhilaration is the result with the top down and the C70’s 2.5-liter, 230 horsepower engine rushing motorists down the open road.

The 2011 Volvo V70 – “Scandinavian design at its best” – surrounds drivers in comfort and luxury. The V70’s interior – simple, clean, and functional – offers both with ergonomically-sound seating and controls.

The latest V70’s driving experience is focused on handling and control, with standard Dynamic Stability and Traction Control and All-Wheel Drive with Instant Traction.

GOTHENBURG – December 16, 2008: The Volvo S60 Concept gives the car world a glimpse of what the all-new Volvo S60 is going to look like when it arrives in 2010.

“The all-new S60 will be one of the strongest players in a segment where the competition is razor-sharp,” says Volvo Cars President and CEO Stephen Odell.

The coupe-inspired lines that gave the original S60 its characteristic stance are even more pronounced in the next generation.

“The sporty design gives visual promise of an enthusiastic drive and I can assure you here and now that the all-new S60 will live up to that promise. The driving properties are better than in any previous Volvo. The car’s technology will help you to be a better and safer driver,” says Stephen Odell.

The Volvo S60 Concept is being shown for the very first time at the Detroit Motor Show in early January 2009. The production version of the all-new Volvo S60 will be introduced in 2010.

GOTHENBURG – October 30, 2008: In response to the phenomenal growth of film and video communication on the internet, Volvo Car Corporation is now launching its own YouTube channel.

“The general media power shift we are seeing today is making it more and more essential to get our message across to all of the people with an interest in our cars – you could call them publicists – who pass it on to others in turn, via their blogs and online communities,” says Peter Ganjbar, Manager, Public Affairs working with new online channels, at Volvo Car Corporation.

Birmingham 05 May 2008 Autoadapt already occupies a leading position in the rapidly growing market for adaptation of automobiles for the elderly and people with physical disabilities from their head office in West Sweden. Now, Autoadapt is reinforcing its product base, its distribution network and technical knowledge base through the acquisition of operations in Finish Turvax Oy.

”Autoadapt and Turvax will collaborate on several development projects. This is a very exciting time, and both companies are looking forward to creating new solutions that can help people with physical disabilities to drive cars,” concludes Peter Wahlsten, Managing Director of Autoadapts U.K.

During the past decade, Autoadapt has grown to be Europe’s largest supplier for “Adaptation of vehicles to the needs of the elderly and disabled”. Today, approximately 90% of production is exported to more than a hundred dealers in Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and the South Pacific.

This Swedish 4×4 car will reportedly powered by typical Saabian 2.0-liter turbo four producing 245 horsepower, though if the engine is fueled with E85 Ethanol power increases to 300 hp and 400 Nm torque. It’ll also expected to get Saab’s latest XWD four-by setup that directs drive power to the front and rear axles and between the rear wheels via an “intelligent” rear-diff.

The 9-4X BioPower SUV looks production ready, and AutoTelegraaf claims that the Saab 9-4X BioPower will go into production this year at GM’s plant in Mexico and should go on sale in the USA not much later, Europe will follow in the following months.

An excerpt from Official SAAB site:

Saab celebrates three decades of leadership in turbocharging at this year’s Frankfurt International Motor Show by launching the Saab 9-3 Turbo X, a driver- focused performance car that sets new standards for the brand.

This black limited edition model takes Saab ‘back to the future’ by evoking the iconic appeal of its first black 900 Turbo and introducing innovative Saab XWD technology.

It is unveiled today (11 Sept), exactly 30 years after Saab surprised the automotive world at Frankfurt when it revealed its first turbocharged model, that set a trend other manufacturers were to follow. Now Saab unleashes turbo power for the first time through Saab XWD, a cutting edge all-wheel-drive system that sets performance standards competitors will also seek to emulate.

With 400 Nm of torque from its 280 ps / 206 kW 2.8V6 turbo engine, the Turbo X is the ultimate performance expression of the new Saab 9-3 range. Saab XWD features active management that not only splits torque delivery between both axles, but also between the rear wheels. This responsive system delivers a level of driver involvement and dynamic chassis control never seen before from Saab.

In addition to tuning of the suspension and its electronic chassis, throttle and powertrain settings, the Turbo X features distinctive styling additions that enhance aerodynamic performance.

Available in Saloon or SportWagon bodystyles, the Saab 9-3 Turbo X limited edition showcases the launch of Saab XWD. The order book will open in early November and the first customer deliveries are expected during the second quarter of next year.

Personally, I don’t liked design of Saab automobiles. They always seemed to me little bit strange (okay, it’s understanable since of influence of airplane design), and not so comfortable. Okay, I had no chance to seat on the driver’s place, and maybe I would changed my opinion after the drive…

But things changed some time ago, I noticed that lines of Saab cars become more humanistic, there no strange-curved windshields and unexpective ended back lines anymore.

Finally, they got a kick to design beautiful model series and now Saab introduced the model that deserves appreciation (drumroll): Lady and Gentlemens! Saab Aero X Concept!

An exerpt from Saab press release:

february, 2006

World premiere – Saab Aero X Concept Showcases Future Design Themes

Inspired by aviation and Scandinavian brand heritage

Previews more progressive design language

Innovative opening canopy eliminates doors and windshield pillars

‘Green Power’ from 400 bhp BioPower engine using 100% bioethanol fuel

The Saab Aero X concept harnesses the power of Saab’s aviation and Scandinavian roots to make a unique statement in performance car design. Conceived as a study to explore future design directions, its innovative features preview the development of an enhanced design language that will inspire future Saab products.

As you would expect from Saab, this dynamic two-seater sports coupé breaks with automotive design convention both outside and inside.

First, there are no doors…or windshield pillars. That’s because the Saab Aero X adopts a cockpit canopy, just as you would see on a jet aircraft. It offers the Aero X pilot full 180 degree vision, and also facilitates entry and exit from its low-slung cabin.

Thrust for the all-wheel-drive Saab Aero X also comes from a powerplant with a difference. The 400 bhp, twin-turbo, BioPower V6 engine is fueled entirely by bioethanol, a sustainable energy source that is kinder to the environment by cutting fossil CO2 emissions. The ‘green power’ of this advanced engine gives new meaning to the phrase ‘performance with responsibility’.

Inside, the Saab Aero X’s cockpit also adds a new dimension to clean Scandinavian interior design by completely eliminating conventional dials and buttons. Instead, Saab has applied techniques derived from Swedish glass and precision instrument making, displaying data on glass-like acrylic ‘clear zones’ in graphic 3-D images.

All exterior and interior lighting is by LED (light-emitting diode), which has given the design team new freedoms to exploit the compact packaging benefits of a technology that will be featured increasingly in future Saab products.

With weight-saving carbon fiber bodywork, a lightweight powertrain, electronically-controlled suspension and all-wheel drive, the Saab Aero X is an exciting driver’s car that promises a level of performance to match its looks. Computer simulations anticipate zero to 100 kph in just 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 kph (limited).

Despite being so tightly driver focused, the Aero X still offers surprising practicality, again, a quality you would expect to find in all Saab designs. That dramatically sculpted tail conceals a useful twin storage facility, with a conventional hatch opening and sliding drawer underneath.

“This study shows how the strength of the Saab brand heritage can inspire bold, innovative design,” says Bryan Nesbitt, Executive Director, GM Design Europe. “As we move forward with new Saab product, we will remain focused on carefully cultivating this brand equity in the context of Scandinavian design values.”

“This concept shows the exciting possibilities that are open to us as we evolve a more progressive design language for the brand,” says Jan Åke Jonsson, Saab Automobile’s Managing Director. “Our designers, engineers and marketers in Sweden are ideally placed to nurture and communicate the unique DNA of the Saab brand. Their work will ensure that future product proposals express core qualities, such as progressive design, sporty performance and emotional functionality, in a way that is specific to Saab.”

The Saab Aero X is the latest in series of concepts from Saab, each accentuating different brand qualities. These include the ‘four-dimensional’ 9X (IAA Frankfurt 2001), the 9-3X Cross-over Coupé (Detroit 2002) and the 9-3 Sport Hatch (IAA Frankfurt 2003).
